This morning I woke up to see about six inches of snow on the plants and trees surrounding my patio, but the temperature has been hovering around zero Celcius for a couple of hours and now the snow is melting.
The seed birdfeeder and the hummingbird feeder needed a little snow removal, but I left the syrup because it wasn’t frozen. (For the last couple of days I have had to bring it indoors to replace the syrup.) Here is a short video showing some hummingbirds; they visit most often in the mornings.
I have since been playing around with my cell phone camera, tripod, and a new gadget (Zhiyun Smooth Q4 Gimbal). The gadget is taking a little while to figure out, but I am getting there. Once I master it I will be able to take better videos while walking. In the mean time, here is a video taken from a stationary position indoors. It’s too slippery for me to want to go walking outside yet!
@snowbirdofparadise.com Wow so many birds, your yard is a popular spot! I really enjoyed those videos! 😀

It took a couple of days but now there are lots of different birds bullying each other to get to the seed! I’m glad you enjoyed the videos, Jamie.
Nice to watch the wee birds 🙂
I seem to be spending a lot of time doing just that!
Proper thing
That is now my favourite two-word sentence!
🙂
I too would be spending a lot of time watching out that window! Mesmerizing!
It is addictive. Now I’m thinking about moving the feeders to a place where the light is better for photography. But the birds seem to like being next to the rhododendron. It is a dilemma.
Ooh, yes, that is hard to know what is best! Perhaps some experimentation is in order.
Hmm. I also have to take the gardener into account. She cuts through my patio to blow leaves. It’s a three-way dilemma.
So many considerations! Keep us posted on what you decide!
The North wind doth blow and we shall have snow and what will the robin do then…poor thing.
I remember that nursery rhyme from our childhood, but I can’t remember the name of the book it was in. Can you?
Update: I think it was Mother Goose</a illustrated by Kate Greenaway.
