Whales and Other Sea Life in Monterey Bay

Here are some of the many pictures I took yesterday in Monterey Bay. I went with my sister and niece on a whale watching trip, and the first impressive sight was of the cormorants and sea lions on the rock breakwater at the edge of the harbour.

Then, once we were further out to sea, we began to have the first of several sightings of humpback whales.

After nearly two-and-a-half hours of exciting whale watching, we returned to dry land and were greeted by a seal who had just waddled its way ashore. Then we walked the trail towards Cannery Row and enjoyed a lovely cup of tea beside the sculpture “Monterey Dolphins” by James “Bud” Bottoms.
