Road Trip 2018 Day 1

Today, Jamie and I began our trip south for the winter. Jamie is keeping me company, managing all the electronics, reminding me to eat, and generally making the time go by much faster than it does when I do this alone.

We drove from Edmonton Alberta to Shelby Montana, 666 km (414 miles). When we left Edmonton there had been snow and freezing rain overnight, but it was just slush by the time we left at 9:30.  As we drove south we had some rain and lots of spray from trucks, but mostly the roads were bare and dry.

We listened to podcasts including The Strange Case of Starship Iris (featuring Jamie Price), Dear Hank and John, Detective, and Wooden Overcoats. We have eclectic tastes.

The further south we went, the prettier the skies became. Jamie took a few pictures and here are some for your viewing pleasure.

  1. Yay! Enjoy the journey! So glad you’re headed south…goodbye slush, hello sunshine. Lovely to hear Jamie is along for the ride! Safe travels. I know my sister and my mom will be thrilled to see you.

  2. I just recently drove though the middle of the U.S. (Oklahoma, Texas, Indiana etc.) and I swear I have never seen so much sky before and it made me want to travel to Montana where it is “Big Sky Country.”

    • That must have been a great trip! I think you have already seen big sky country, just different big sky country from Montana (and Alberta and wherever else they claim big sky)!

It comes down to an absence of buildings and a lot of horizon. But, Montana is beautiful. You should go . ๐Ÿ™‚
