Not far from Nanaimo Airport is a lovely little park with a delightfully clear river. The water is shallow and you can clearly see the rocks at the bottom. The park is home to both coniferous and deciduous trees as well as berry and Alberta Wild Rose bushes.
The yellow broom you can see in these photos is not native to the area. It was introduced, according to legend, by a Scottish person who thought Vancouver Island needed some yellow flowers. It has since become an an invasive species and thwarts all attempts to remove it.

The one photo looks like a strange sort of coniferous dance or coupling.
It almost looks as though it is moving, doesn’t it? It certainly caught my eye.
You had me at “delightfully clear river”. I love that!
These days, that seems worth pointing out. π
I agree!
