Today I had a surprise visit from a Northern Flicker. I have never seen one on my patio before, so this was a real treat.

What a pretty bird π
He is lovely! His pretty female partner is quite dull by comparison.
Nice capture! I sometimes wonder which birds show up when I am not watching!
I have noticed a change in the bird population on my patio in the last month. The hummingbirds seem to have disappeared and a flock of Brewer’s Blackbirds has bullied away a lot of the finches. I wonder if the fact that the trees and flowers are blooming right now has changed their environment and thus their visits to my feeder.
Interesting! It sounds like a plausible reason.
