Over the last couple of years I have been re-learning how to paint and, for the first time, learning how to paint with acrylics. Acrylics behave very differently from oils and watercolours, and so it has been a challenge to figure out the necessary techniques and processes. Here are some of my results.
I almost gave up on the most recent painting, but after putting it aside for a while, I got back at it. I don’t love the result, but it has a dark brooding presence that speaks to something in me so I decided to stop messing with it and just let it be. Then I thought I saw a phoenix and thought, hmmm.

Here is Paul Simon, Still Crazy After All These Years.

These are charming
Thank you, Sheree.
Your paintings are impressive! Cheers
Thank you, Donna!
I like your paintings. Good work on the clouds except the one where they look heavy, but maybe they were heavy. Sometimes I look at the sky and think: “if I painted that, no one would believe it.”
It is surprisingly difficult to paint clouds!
Anne, I am so impressed by your newly recalled talent. Absolutely lovely colors and detail. Yes, a Phoenix! I happened across one in a book I am reading also! Thank you so much for sharing your beautiful acrylic paintings.
Thanks for the kind words, Mary Beth.
Beautiful! Yes a Phoenix , I have a Phoenix tattoo on my left lower leg. I got it when I moved to Texas. I was starting over after my divorce and I have never regretted getting it. Keep on painting Anne.
A phoenix tattoo! Now you’ve got me thinking.
You have real talent, completely unlike me! I’m taking an abstract painting class this January (acrylics) and hoping something interesting emerges π Keep it up!
Thanks, June. If you are given any good tips on using acrylics, please let me know!
I admit to having none…the struggle is real π
Impressive! Thanks for sharing your artwork!
Thanks, Lorna. I try.
I really like your paintings Anne. I wanted to say something deep and meaningful so I didn’t comment when I saw them at first…while thinking of something…well D&M. I realized that no comment was worse than a lame one so here’s my not so deep comment. Keep painting Anne! These are beautiful. π
Thank you, Sally. That was very kind. Deeply and meaningfully!
