A few days ago I went out to try to capture the lovely purple evening sky when, at the same time, a flock of Mergansers chose that moment to fly by.

There must have been about fifty of them.

They may have been Mallards, but it’s hard to tell when you only see a silhouette.

And, to be honest, I don’t think I can tell the difference even in broad daylight.

Regardless, my camera was set to photograph a sunset so in the frame they were just fuzzy ducks.

So, these picture show neither the purple-ness of the sky nor the clarity of the ducks. Imperfection is my superpower.
@snowbirdofparadise.com The important thing is that you saw them! 🙂

I think so, too! Identification is for the birds. 🙂
lol!!!!
I can sure relate to that!
I’m glad to be in good company! 🙂
Fuzzy ducks!! I love that! It’s now entered into my rolodex-in-my-brain of expressions. I’ll have to try it out on my husband first.😁
I joined a FB group who posts pictures of the birds visiting our local wetlands. I am impressed when they know what kind of duck they’re looking at. It haven’t even occurred to me to figure out anything more than “duck”, not “goose”.
I have been known to confuse a gull for a duck, so I am beyond hope.
I hear ya!😁
I probably ought not comment but you know me, Anne! When I was watching bears in Alaska on the computer, there were smallish sized birds around in the water frequently. I learned by reading other’s comments that these were Mergansers. Although they came quite close to bears in the water, the bears ignored them. One of the moderators on that site seemed quite fond of these little birds. Do you suppose they would be the same ducks that you saw? The spelling is different. I admit to a lot of ignorance!
You are absolutely correct, Mary Beth. The name is Merganser, not Morganser. My apologies. I will change that immediately. Yes, they are the same ducks.
Imperfection is one awesome superpower! …could be my favorite.
Haha! Bless you, Sally.
