Morrell Nature Sanctuary is a privately owned but publicly accessible area of forest in Nanaimo. A local contractor named William Morrell donated the land in 1973 for the public to enjoy. The area is maintained and managed by the Morrell Sanctuary Society for Environmental Education, a non-profit volunteer-run organization. They are responsible for educational programs, boardwalk construction, and restoration projects.
The Sanctuary has a number of trails to enjoy, and all surround the visitor with trees, ferns, shrubs, and wild flowers.

You do find the nicest spots!
I had help. π Through the Harbour City Newcomers group I met Chris Streiter who leads the Monday morning hikes.
