It was unusually warm for a November day and was about 4 C (39 F) as I walked in Borden Park. It began to rain as I was leaving but I managed to get home before the roads became covered in freezing rain.

Wrapped Dinosaurs and a Worried Little Girl
In Borden Park this morning, workers were preparing for an exhibition of animatronic dinosaurs which will be open to the public September 24-26. Today’s park visitors were drawn to watch the hive of activity from behind red metal fences. We peered through the spaces to watch dinosaurs, wrapped in plastic, being carefully manoeuvred into place […]
Trying Out A New Lens
I have a fairly new camera and a very new lens which I tried for the first time today. After a walk to Borden Park, I sat down on a bench to get myself sorted out. Much to my dismay, I realized that I had left my camera on after I had used it two […]
Living In Between
As we passed this sculpture today, I asked my son to guess what it was called. He said “Berlin,” which I thought was both funny and appropriate. It turns out, the sculpture is called Living In Between and it is the work of Agnieszka Koziarz. As we were looking at it, I read aloud the […]
Borden Park in Late Summer
It isn’t fall yet, but I can feel it coming. The sun is lower in the sky and I am seeing the first of the autumn leaves. Yesterday in Borden Park I was able to enjoy a lovely sunny morning walk among the trees. I also took a few photos of the flowers and one […]
Borden (Sculpture) Park
Borden Park in Edmonton is one of my favourite places to go for a walk, and I have posted pictures of it here previously. (October Afternoon, Autumn, Sunday Morning) One of the things I like about it is that is home to lots of sculptures. It reminds me of the time when I was a […]
Sunday Morning in Borden Park
Borden Park is one of Edmonton’s best-kept secrets. When we moved here in 2014 I would walk to this park but since then I have had a couple of bad falls and I can no longer walk that far, so today I drove there. Even so, I had a lovely walk when I got there […]
Autumn in My Neighbourhood
Since I suffered a bad fall last spring, I have been trying to gradually get back to my former walking strength. I’m not there yet, but I’m making good progress. I am up to about two miles (3.2 km) now before I need a rest. This week my walks took me to Borden Park in […]
Celebrating The Green and Gold
These are the colours I saw on my walk yesterday. They are also, coincidentally, the colours of the Edmonton Eskimos football team. Update October 2021: Edmonton’s football team is now called the Edmonton Elks.
