Yesterday I went to Vancouver Island University in order to attend a course through Elder College. I had never been to the university before, and I arrived much too early so that I could find my way about. As I had time to spare, I walked around the campus for a while and discovered these magnificent totems outside the Aboriginal Students’ Gathering Place.
I also enjoyed the lovely views of snow-covered mountains in Mount Benson Regional Park. At least, I think that is where they are.
They are amazing Anne! I have to learn more about them. Thanks for sharing Donna
You are welcome, Donna!
The totem poles are wonderful! Also nice to see the explanation of the figures. The only ones I have seen are in the Museum of Civilization in Ottawa. Also I didn’t know there was a Vancouver Island University.
It used to be Malaspina College and now has graduate and post-graduate programs. It also provides Elder College which I am finding to be a blessing.
I’m so happy that this wonderfully crafted artistry and history is appreciated.
And I was very happy to find it! I was awed by all of the totems.
