After I read about a magnificent sculpture of a humpback whale made of driftwood, I was inspired to go out and take a few pictures of driftwood on the beach near me. There is a surprisingly wide variety of types of wood and textures, and some pieces look as though they have lived a very long life. Some have become homes for insects, and some are just waiting for a sculptor to come along.
The imagination runs wild…
I can see creatures in some of the shapes.
Me too…perhaps an alligator 🙂
Some potential Halloween decorations among those pieces of driftwood!
Oh! Now I have to see them in that frame!
Nature is such a lovely sculptor.
I agree. She doesn’t get enough credit.
Beautiful photos. I also love getting snapshots of the driftwood on Vancouver Island’s beaches. So many unique configurations and shapes 🙂
One of the reasons I moved here is my memory of the beaches from my honeymoon in 1975. The driftwood on the west side of the island was a revelation to me.
