Driftwood Textures

After I read about a magnificent sculpture of a humpback whale made of driftwood, I was inspired to go out and take a few pictures of driftwood on the beach near me. There is a surprisingly wide variety of types of wood and textures, and some pieces look as though they have lived a very long life. Some have become homes for insects, and some are just waiting for a sculptor to come along.

  1. Beautiful photos. I also love getting snapshots of the driftwood on Vancouver Island’s beaches. So many unique configurations and shapes 🙂
