I arrived in Nanaimo, British Columbia, yesterday and then had the best sleep I have had in many months. I think it must be the sea air.

This morning I enjoyed a walk along the harbourfront. It was windy and cloudy, but very enjoyable even so. I saw a lot of people who look a lot like me.

In the afternoon I met with a realtor and a rental property agent and they are both now looking for a condo for me. I think I will probably rent before I buy, but I don’t want to miss any great opportunities so I am keeping both avenues available to me.

I will be here for twelve days and will spend some of that time looking at property and the rest of the time sightseeing. It’s rainy and windy, but that is OK. There are flowers everywhere. This is the driveway outside the door to my AirBnB.

Had no idea you were planning a move. How did this come about? Seems like a lovely idea. Hope you find a place that you like.
The thought has been brewing for a while. I did a little reconnaissance last year and this year I sold my San Jose condo which has made this potential move possible.
Sounds delightful. I hope you find a place with big widows and lots of light. If I were in your shoes I would probably rent a place as dealing with home repairs has become more than I want to deal with. This just feels right for you, your whole tone is lighter and happier.
Thanks, V. I have an appointment to view a place with lots of windows on Monday. Fingers crossed.
Cheering you on from California! Very happy that 142 sold!
Thank you, Mary Beth. Finding a buyer was not hard but going through the machinations of completing the sale legally was a never-ending frustration. I’m glad it’s over.
Nanaimo is a good place to retire to. They have done a great job of revitalizing the harbor and downtown. I’m a ferry ride away in Vancouver.
I really like the harbourfront walkway. It is very well maintained and the people are friendly.
