Edmonton has an annual celebration of gardens in bloom, and some of my neighbours are good candidates for recognition. We have a very short season, so figuring out what will bloom within that time takes some research. Also, we are cursed with clay soil, so I know that local gardeners fight an ongoing battle with soil quality.
One of the unexpected blessings of Covid-19 is that my daily walks around nearby streets have made me aware of the many great gardeners who live near me. I haven’t actually met them, but I have met their flowers which is almost the same thing.
Here are some of this week’s blooms:
Beautiful! I especially like the irises.
I do, too. That yellow one is such a lovely colour.
So pretty!
Yes, indeed! They make my daily walks a pleasure.
You are surrounded by a cornucopia of vivid colors and scents aren’t you!? How very LUCKY you are Anne! Oh! And bees and butterflies too, yes? 😁
I am a lucky woman. No doubt about it. I have seen bees, but no butterflies so far this year.
So beautiful ❤️
I’m glad my neighbours like flowers!
Gardening is my escape of boredom…I see more neighbors walking around than every…maybe that’s the positive side of Covid19.
I think you are right. More people are walking and more people are gardening, too!
