In September 2016 I enjoyed a wonderful visit to New York with my younger son and his partner. We went to some great shows and saw many memorable sights. Among them was the building at 30 Rockefeller Plaza. It is home to the NBC studios where Saturday Night Live is produced and performed. As such, it provided the title to Tina Fey’s television comedy series.
The main entrance is massive and incorporates the Art Deco carved rendering of Wisdom, created by Lee Lawrie. Wisdom is flanked by Sound on the left and Light on the right. The inscription reads “Wisdom and Knowledge Shall Be The Stability of Thy Times.” It is a biblical reference, taken from Isaiah 33:6.

It really is a fabulous work of art. My photo of the whole work including the side pieces did not come out well, unfortunately. I may have to go back to New York and try again!
