National Aboriginal Day in Canada is today, June 21, 2017. These pictures were taken near my home in Edmonton and show an art installation including a Giving Tree and several murals. The images and words are both sad and hopeful, grieving and rejoicing. I came away with an unsettling mixture of emotions, which is as it should be.
The installation is called Maskihkîy Âcimowin / Medicine Stories, and more information about it can be found at https://bleedingheartart.space/medicine stories , facebook , instagram , and twitter .
